Lindsay Burns & Company provides a confidential, prompt and competitively priced valuation service tailored to meet the requirements of our clients whether they are Private Individuals, Solicitors, Executors or other Professional Advisors. Our valuations are presented in a clear, concise and professionally bound document with supporting images where required. We are experienced in preparing the following types of valuations.
We offer free verbal advice for potential vendors. Smaller items can be valued at our offices or a home visit can be arranged to conduct a walk round valuation. This is often the most convenient way to access house contents, collections or larger items. We also hold regular valuation days at our offices and in external locations where items can be appraised.
We have the knowledge and experience to provide Solicitors and Executors with detailed valuations for Inheritance Tax and Probate purposes. Valuations are carried out promptly and discreetly and comply with the requirements of HMRC.
Lindsay Burns & Company has the experience to provide detailed valuations of Antiques and Fine Art for insurance purposes. Supporting digital images can be supplied for both you and your insurers.
Using our discretion we can prepare valuations for family division and willing buyer – willing seller which allows chattels to be assessed accordingly.
We understand the importance of valuation administration and have systems in place which are managed by dedicated administrators who process the accounts. When goods are entered for sale we allocate the consignment a unique property reference number which is followed by the item number from the valuation. This allows us to track the progress of items through sale and produce reports in item number order which correspond to the valuation. Valuations can be annotated with details of items to be stored for beneficiaries, items to be disposed of or items being kept. Our experience has proved this to be the most efficient way of handling clients property.
Our valuers are available to undertake valuations throughout Scotland and further afield as and when required.

"Dear Mr Burns, I would like to thank you first of all for coming to visit us and explaining to us the difference between silver & silver plate. Also thank you for valuing several items. We were very grateful to you for selling the silver and also the not so interesting items which sold better than we expected. Once again thank you and I am sure we will need your help in the future. Yours Sincerely. M.N."
