A fine Scottish burr yew oblong snuff box with incurved sides and integral wooden hinge, the cover inset with eleven segmented specimen woods, each separate wood bearing inscription of it’s origin: ‘Queen Mary’s Yew’, ‘The Victory’, ‘Oak of Alloway Kirk’, ‘Birk of Aberfeldie’ etc, the underside decorated with the first verse (words and music) of Robert Burns’ poem ‘Auld Lang Syne’, stamped maker’s mark ‘D CRAIG, HELENSBURGH’ inside lid, early 19th century, 8.8cm wide.
