A Mauchline ware oblong snuff box, the hinged cover finely painted with a point-to-point racing scene with jockeys and horses jumping over a gate and wall in a country landscape, the sides and base with fine yellow diagonal lines against a dark green ground, stamped maker’s mark ‘SMITH, MAUCHLINE, MANUFACTURERS TO HIS MAJESTY’ and Royal Warrant inside lid, early 19^th century, 8.3cm wide.
